Foyers Stores and Café is under new ownership

Jan and Simon Hargreaves are the new owners of Foyers shop, post office and cafe. They have moved from Poole in Dorset, with their two dogs Sophie and Brodie. Jan was a Social Worker for adults with learning disabilities, although running catering establishments has also been a large part of her life; Simon was in scientific research for the MoD, spending a great deal of time on trials in Northern Scotland. Jan's family hail from Stornaway and Edinburgh and she has always wanted to move back to Scotland to live. They have three adult children and one granddaughter (with a new granddaughter eagerly expected in early April).

Jan and Simon's hope is to develop both businesses with an emphasis on supplying a truly local service (to this end, any suggestions will be gratefully received - although they can't promise to meet every desire!). The shop is undergoing restocking with new ranges that are hopefully what you want to see for sale at your local shop. They are planning to install a chilled food and freezer section so that they can offer a wider selection of everyday food items. Jan and Simon would like to thank everyone for their patience and support while they get established with local suppliers and arrange for the new equipment to arrive.

The cafe kitchen is being totally refurbished and while they are eager to open the cafe, local regulations have to be observed and this is taking a little longer than anticipated. Rest assured that it will be up and running at the earliest opportunity. At present, this will hopefully be late March. The cafe will be open Monday to Saturday (possibly Sunday lunchtimes as well). The cafe will serve: breakfasts, sandwiches, baguettes, jacket potatoes, salads, hot meals, daily/weekly specials, desserts, cakes, teas and coffees. Jan's aim is also to open early evening on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays to provide a Take Away service offering fish and chips etc.

Opening Hours.

Shop: Monday to Saturday 9am to 5.30pm

Sunday 10am to 1pm (from 1st April)

Cafe: Monday to Wednesday 9am to 5.30pm

Thursday to Saturday 9am to 7.30pm

Jan and Simon would like to thank Tim and Aggi for giving them the opportunity to take over the shop and cafe; also for all the help and kindness they have given both before and during the handover period. Jan and Simon also greatly appreciate Caren's invaluable help during the first few weeks, her continuing support and hard work.
